Marina Barrage

The Marina Barrage is a dam in Singapore built across the mouth of the bay, between Marina east and Marina South. It was officially opened on the 1st of November in the year 2008 and was Singapore's fifteenth reservoir.

The barrage forms the 15th reservoir in Singapore and first reservoir in the city.
As the water in the Marina Basin is unaffected by the tides, the water level will be kept constant, making it ideal for all kinds of recreational activities such as boating, windsurfing, kayaking and Dragon Boating.
There is also a field on top of the barrage where people can fly their kites like Singapore’s unique motorized kite. When night falls, pilots will switch on the LED’s that is attached to the kite which will cause the sky to look very beautiful and it will look like as if a dozen of UFO’s surrounding the barrage which what makes the place looks unique.

Marina Barrage is open for viewing 24/7.  People can go there anytime just to have fun and enjoy the ocean breeze.

Prawning at Pasir Ris

Prawning is something like fishing but instead of catching seafood in the sea, you will be sitting by the pond and fish for prawns. There are a lot of places in Singapore that offers prawning but I would like to recommend this place which I think is the best to do prawning which is located at Pasir Ris Park. The place is call Pasir Ris Happy Prawning as the service there is excellent which makes it easy to catch a lot of prawn. Previously, I went there with my friends and we were able to catch more than 40 pieces of big headed prawn within 3 hours. We were surprise with the result as usually we could not catch that much prawns within that less amount of time . Prawning requires a person to have a good patience level while waiting for the prawn to take the bait and get hook onto it firmly enough. You will be able to barbecue the prawns right away and will be able to eat the fresh prawns. The equipment that prawning needs is a prawn floater, rod and hook. If you do not wish to buy the equipment, the place also allows you to rent at a low price or even for free depending on the season. In fact, you do not have to worry about the equipments. I believe prawning is suitable for all type of people and all type of age range. The place itself have a shelter which lets you do prawning without worrying about the weather.

Most tourists who come to Singapore usually will go cycling, roller-blading or fishing. They would rarely think of prawning. So, I would strongly recommend them to do something that is more unique and special and not common among the people here. Prawning also allow either friends or family to bond together while waiting for the prawn to bite the bait so they can have a chat to close and tighten up the bond within them.

Fort Canning Park

 Fort Canning Walk

Fort Canning Hill is located at 51 Canning Rise. There was couple of places in the Fort itself. For example, The Sally Port, Spice Garden, The Battle Box, The Fort Gate & The 9-Pound Cannon. If you're interested in the history of World War II, this is one of few places that you should visit.

The areas here are often being used for marriage photo taking, romantic couples enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, jogging and sometimes concerts are also being held in the parks. It explains the history of Singapore in World War II. This fortress was used by the British Army in World War II.

The Sally Port is a path with a small hidden door for letting the soldiers be in and out of the fort itself without being detected. It was supposed to have 3 of the Sally Ports but only 1 remains today.

Not perhaps the best-known of Singapore attractions, the Spice Garden at Fort Canning Park is a veritable trove of Singapore's natural history, with over 100 varieties of plants and trees lining its trails.
The Spice Garden is a replica of the first experimental botanical garden in Singapore. Some of the herbs there are used for cooking or medicinal and healing purposes too. Just before entering to the area, you can smell the aroma of the spices there. It's a place that you should not miss.

The Battle Box is a meticulously restored museum with wax figures showing the way and how the British soldiers work and communicate during the War. There are old radio station bunker that is used to send and receive information. General Percival's actual office is restored to show you meetings they had between him and Simmons.

This is the 9-Pound Cannon , which is really amazing that they had kept it for so long, however it is quite rusty. According to the history of Singapore , playing a decorative role rather than a defensive one, the cannon was fired three times a day at 5 a.m., 1 p.m., and 9 p.m. to announce the hour.

Seletar Dam

Seletar dam is located beside the Orchid Country Club. It have a great fishing spot and a peaceful environment for a quiet place for relaxation or self-reflection. You can see fishes jumping out from the surface of the water and crabs are found almost everywhere under the rocks.

Some of the locals can be found fishing for the seafoods available there and pitching their tent to barbecue with their families and friends. It is also a good spot to take some pictures of the nature reserve and sceneries.

The only bus that stop nearest to the Seletar Dam is bus 804. You can alight at Yishun Avenue 1. After alighting from the bus(facing the HDB flats), turn right and cross the traffic junction ahead. It will just take between 5-10 minutes walk to Seletar Dam from that point.
