The Marina Barrage is a dam in Singapore built across the mouth of the bay, between Marina east and Marina South. It was officially opened on the 1st of November in the year 2008 and was Singapore's fifteenth reservoir.
The barrage forms the 15th reservoir in Singapore and first reservoir in the city.
As the water in the Marina Basin is unaffected by the tides, the water level will be kept constant, making it ideal for all kinds of recreational activities such as boating, windsurfing, kayaking and Dragon Boating.
There is also a field on top of the barrage where people can fly their kites like Singapore’s unique motorized kite. When night falls, pilots will switch on the LED’s that is attached to the kite which will cause the sky to look very beautiful and it will look like as if a dozen of UFO’s surrounding the barrage which what makes the place looks unique.
