Fort Canning Park

 Fort Canning Walk

Fort Canning Hill is located at 51 Canning Rise. There was couple of places in the Fort itself. For example, The Sally Port, Spice Garden, The Battle Box, The Fort Gate & The 9-Pound Cannon. If you're interested in the history of World War II, this is one of few places that you should visit.

The areas here are often being used for marriage photo taking, romantic couples enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, jogging and sometimes concerts are also being held in the parks. It explains the history of Singapore in World War II. This fortress was used by the British Army in World War II.

The Sally Port is a path with a small hidden door for letting the soldiers be in and out of the fort itself without being detected. It was supposed to have 3 of the Sally Ports but only 1 remains today.

Not perhaps the best-known of Singapore attractions, the Spice Garden at Fort Canning Park is a veritable trove of Singapore's natural history, with over 100 varieties of plants and trees lining its trails.
The Spice Garden is a replica of the first experimental botanical garden in Singapore. Some of the herbs there are used for cooking or medicinal and healing purposes too. Just before entering to the area, you can smell the aroma of the spices there. It's a place that you should not miss.

The Battle Box is a meticulously restored museum with wax figures showing the way and how the British soldiers work and communicate during the War. There are old radio station bunker that is used to send and receive information. General Percival's actual office is restored to show you meetings they had between him and Simmons.

This is the 9-Pound Cannon , which is really amazing that they had kept it for so long, however it is quite rusty. According to the history of Singapore , playing a decorative role rather than a defensive one, the cannon was fired three times a day at 5 a.m., 1 p.m., and 9 p.m. to announce the hour.
